Young energy entrepreneurs across Africa now have a fresh opportunity to pitch their ideas and win funding. The Nigeria Energy Forum has opened submissions for the 11th edition of the Africa Energy Innovation Competition (AEIC), a platform built to mobilise and empower young innovators tackling energy access, value addition, and sustainable development challenges on the continent.

About the Competition
This year’s challenge invites proposals across four innovation tracks: Powering Youth Employment & Green Jobs; Energizing Agribusiness & Waste-2-Energy; Greening Local Manufacturing & Value Addition; and Transforming AI & Connectivity. The programme is looking for solutions that put locally available resources to work for social enterprise impact in energy, agribusiness, fintech, and manufacturing.
Winners share cash prizes of up to US$10,000 to demonstrate or scale their solutions. Finalists also receive complimentary passes to the 11th Nigeria Energy Forum, access to business development workshops, industry mentorship, and venture incubation support valued at over US$15,000 — plus networking opportunities with senior leaders from government, development, academia, and the private sector.
Eligibility & How to Apply
Applications are open to young professionals aged 18 to 35 from any African country, submitted by teams of at least three people, with each team reflecting gender balance (at least one woman and one man). Teams can be formed across different schools, institutions, companies, or countries, and individuals or teams may submit more than one application. Applications close on September 10, 2026, and shortlisted teams will pitch their prototypes at the 2026 Nigeria Energy Forum, holding virtually on November 19, 2026.
